Hi Everyone,
I also had a few questions as far as our program preparation goes, however, after reading Kate's most recent post, I think most of them have been addressed. I wanted to know if we could get an idea of the student's english skills in general before arriving such that we have an idea of what level we should be teaching. Also, I was looking at some activities that another Queen's organization (QMO) has developped to teach Kenyan youth about responsible sexuality. Their material was very interesting and informative, however, I found it to be quite straight forward. Here in Canada we tend to tip-toe around issues of sexuality within our schooling and I was wondering what the case is in Guyana. Is it appropriate to discuss responsible sexuality with the students? I think that lessons like this could be extremely positive and empowering, but I'm just not sure how conservative the community is. That's it for now, I'll keep posting as the question develop. I hope everyone is well,
Maia
